Job Details
We are looking for a highly experienced retail person to assist in the operational management of a large destination garden centre ensuring the highest standards of service, retail management and performance are maintained.
Job Description:
Reporting to: Garden Centre Manager
Responsibilities: To ensure the garden centre business operates profitably and efficiently working directly under the Garden Centre Manager. The Garden Centre Assistant Manager is responsible for the day-to-day running of the garden centre and ensures that all staff work together as a team in the absence of the Garden Centre Manager.
Main Duties:
To take a lead role in developing the centre into a Garden Centre of Excellence.
To deliver exceptional standards of merchandising.
To be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Garden Centre team and garden centre events in the absence of the Manager.
Work with the Garden Centre Manager to ensure the staffing rota is current and on budget.
To take an active role in recruiting new staff.
To develop the retail skills of the Garden Centre team.
To be responsible for the development of both effective and efficient staff rotas.
To take a lead in ensuring high standards of security on site.
To be responsible for stock control, liaising with the Manager over stock levels and oversee the delivery of stock.
To take an active role in managing and implementing the health and safety policy and procedures.
Corporate responsibility, to ensure full compliance with all policies and procedures within the designated areas of responsibility.
The Ideal Candidate:
Will have a strong background in retail management, preferably from a garden centre background and be capable of managing the staff, merchandising and ensuring that superb levels of customer services are maintained. This can be from either live or dried goods sides but candidates must be able to demonstrate excellent management capabilities.
