Management of pests is via use of biological controls, judicious planting and crop management. The client has adopted a no-dig policy through much of the site. Encompassing an area of rough mown grass, yew hedging and mature trees.  The core estate is currently comprised of a walled kitchen and herb garden, a small orchard, croquet lawn, wild flower meadow and greenhouses. Abundantly planted borders are full of interesting and rare plants; bulbs, herbaceous, grasses, roses, dahlias and annuals with more mature specimens.

The Sole Gardener will be involved with all aspects of garden care; planting, pruning, bed and border development and maintenance, mowing and lawn care, kitchen gardening and plant propagation utilising the existing greenhouses. The owner is planning extensions to the current garden and would wish the applicant to be involved in the planning and implementation of the new areas. The new areas will comprise new gardens and a small area of new, trees totalling approximately half an acre.

Applicants will ideally hold a recognised academic horticultural qualification at level 3 or above and/or extensive experience on private estates at a similar level.  Applicants must have excellent practical and theoretical knowledge in each of the above areas and should also have extensive experience of managing private estate gardens efficiently throughout the seasons.  This role requires a well-rounded knowledge of horticulture, efficient time management and excellent attention to detail at all times.  Applicants should be well-versed in the operation and basic maintenance of garden machinery and should have a good level of physical fitness.
