A rare opportunity has arisen to join one of the most charming gardens in East Sussex as Decorative Gardener.

A Grand Victorian house set in a 90 acre estate over looking the Kent and Sussex coast with views of the French coast. The estate is located just outside of historic town of Hastings.

Adjacent to the house is a 10 acre pleasure gardeners filled with decorative borders such as the Ha ha Border around 100 meters long this border is split by yew buttresses into nine panels and is filled with herbaceous perennials with colours ranging from butter yellows, to pastel pink.

A spring highlight of the gardens is the Peony Border a hundred meters border filled with sumptuous peonies with are at there most glorious in the month of May.

In the summer months the Long Border a mixed border of shrubs and perennials is at its height showing off its brilliant hot colours this contrasts with white border, which is home to plants with pure white flowers.

At their best from summer through to autumn at the top of the garden are exotic border, these border are filled with palms and other lush exotic foliage which can transport you to far away climes.

The Decorative gardener will work within a team of 5 and report directly to the Head Gardener.   They will hold responsibility for the borders described above and there day to day management.

Applicants should have an excellent practical knowledge of horticulture and be qualified to at least RHS level 2 or 3 with a minimum of 2 – 3 years experience, be confident with a large work load, have a passion for horticulture, and a good attention to detail. Applicants should be physically fit and able in carrying out a range of horticultural tasks, have good plant identification skills, be able to use garden a wide range of machinery and have a full UK driving license
