We're working with an innovative and dynamic fresh produce company as they look to take on a Nursery Manager to lead all growing operations in their large purpose-built glasshouse.
You'll join a welcoming team as you look to drive forward the production of these protected crops, taking full ownership of the crop from seed to harvest.
As Nursery Manager, you'll spend the majority of your time in the glasshouse and be responsible for a variety of different duties such as:
Growing the highest quality crops
Managing water/energy usage
Controlling pests via biological control.
Managing the irrigation and fertigation of all plants.
Managing the PRIVA Environmental computer.
Continuously challenging the growing process to improve crop quality.
Trialling new crop varieties.
Ensuring that all practices in the glasshouse comply with the Food Safety Act.
Ensuring product quality is to customer specifications and that all procedures comply with BRC/HACCP and all other certifications.
You'll also strive to stay up to date with new, ground-breaking growing techniques in order to keep our client at the forefront of the market.
The ideal person will be:
Experienced in commercial glasshouse crop production and passionate about growing.
Experience in plant propagation.
Have a deep understanding of pests and diseases.
Have experience of handling automated environmental control systems.
Interested in sustainable food production and excited about growing horticultural crops.
Happy to spend time working alone.
Dedicated, enthusiastic and a strong team player.
