An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Skilled Gardener to join an established and prestigious estate nestled in the heart of Ashdown Forest, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in East Sussex. The 120 acre gardens are Grade 2 listed and incorporate a large productive walled garden, orchard, substantial state of the art glasshouses, formal terraces, lawns, extensive herbaceous borders, parkland, lakes, woodland and valuable Rhododendron and tree collections.

The role will entail working within a team of 7 under the direction of the grounds and gardens management team and the successful applicant will spend time across the entire estate undertaking a wide variety of horticultural tasks and projects, with an emphasis on assisting with the production of vegetables, fruit and cut flowers during the growing season. Applicants should have a good, practical knowledge of horticulture and be qualified to at least RHS level 2 or equivalent with a minimum of 2 – 3 years experience, together with a passion for horticulture, energy, enthusiasm and attention to detail. Applicants should be physically fit and proficient in carrying out a range of horticultural tasks, have good plant identification skills, have experience in growing organic fruit and vegetables, be proficient in the use of garden machinery and have a full UK driving licence. Spray and chainsaw certificates would be beneficial but are not essential.

The position would be ideal for a driven horticulturalist looking to broaden their experience and have the opportunity to be exposed to a wide range of horticultural practices, disciplines, training and techniques.
