Job Description – CURATOR, MARKS HALL ESTATE

Reporting to: Executive Director

Location: Marks Hall Estate, Coggeshall, Essex CO6 1TG

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: Salary will be in the range £35,500 to £43,000 depending on experience

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Marks Hall. As a result of a change to the senior management structure we are a recruiting for a Curator who will be responsible for the management and development of the garden and arboretum.

The successful candidate will be able to lead, inspire and manage their team, whilst delivering the highest standards of conservation, horticulture and visitor experience.  The post holder will report directly to the Executive Director.

Marks Hall Estate is a striking heritage landscape that extends to over 2,300 acres of Essex countryside. It includes tenanted farm holdings, residential and commercial property, broadleaved woodlands of high nature conservation value, an 18th Century Coach House event venue and at its heart an Arboretum, arranged on a geographical theme with plants from the temperate regions grouped together.  There are areas representing Europe, Asia, North America and the Southern Hemisphere, set in more than 200 acres of historic landscape providing interest and enjoyment throughout the year.
