Trainee Gardener

Perennial’s York Gate Garden, a one-acre jewel in the arts and crafts style, preserved for public benefit and regularly open to visitors, is offering a placement to a trainee gardener.  The garden has recently benefited from a substantial amount of investment to secure its future.  With its wide range of horticultural features, packed into a small space, York Gate provides an exceptional opportunity to use the whole range of craft gardening skills, from topiary to propagation, from vegetables to cut flowers, plantsmanship and  public opening….. a job of immense interest and variety.

Working under the supervision of the Head Gardener and the Senior Gardener this is an ‘earn as you learn’ opportunity to gain both academic qualifications (usually RHS 2/3 but others may be considered) and practical experience.

You will need to demonstrate a keen interest in gardening together with a strong desire to learn.  You will have good communication skills, an organised and methodical approach to your work and the ability to work as part of a team.
