Islington Council is looking to recruit a talented and energetic person to manage the Council’s Grounds Maintenance Services, Parks Services Performance and Systems Team and Nature Conservation Service.  

The successful candidate will need to have a proven track record managing Grounds Maintenance Services at a strategic level and using performance date to improve service delivery. You will need to demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to lead and motivate your team to deliver a quality service.   

You’ll be required to take accountability for the management of a number of service budgets, ensuring that they provide value for money. You will be responsible for assessing the boroughs maintenance needs and ensuring the correct resources are in place to meet those needs.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience: 

  • Be able to work closely with colleagues, staff and clients 
  • High level of horticultural maintenance knowledge  
  • Be pro-active and committed to providing an excellent service
  • Have a strong customer focus 
  • High level of strategic planning and organisational skills are essential 
  • Have a strong leadership style with a focus on supporting and developing employees 
  • Experience in similar position and capacity 
  • Be commercial minded and be able to identify and implement opportunities for income generation.
  • Good IT Skills

The post holder will be based at the Waste Reuse and Recycling Centre, 1 Cottage Road, London, N7 8TP.
