A hands on Experienced Gardener is required to work alongside the existing gardener who has been with the private estate for 21 years. The estate is near Evesham in Gloucestershire and recently changed ownership. It comprises 6 acres that includes herbaceous shrubs, rose borders, small orchard, old rose garden, knot garden, patio area, yew and box hedging, topiary meadow and a number of ponds and small streams. There is also a number of climbing plants, vegetable/cut flower garden and a greenhouse that the current gardener looks after.

The ideal applicant will be a practical gardener with hands on experience who can manage their own time and work independently. You will need extensive knowledge of pruning and plant maintenance combined with an eye for planting combinations especially in the herbaceous borders where the owners need advice. An RHS Level 2/3 practical certificates would also be an advantage, though proven work record is more important.

The vegetable garden is organic, however PA1/PA6 certificates are required along with knowledge of fungicides for treatment of roses, box etc. Chainsaw certificates would also be desirable though not essential.

Whilst the owners are keen to take on a new gardener they wish to retain the existing gardener, therefore you must be willing to work alongside somebody who has been with the estate for an extended period of time.

Working hours will be Monday to Friday though flexibility is expected. The garden is also open one Sunday each year for the NGS.
