Our client has a successful business providing a comprehensive range of grounds maintenance and gardening services to both high end commercial and residential clients. Due to continued expansion, they are recruiting for a Grounds & Garden Maintenance Team Leader to work with their grounds maintenance teams servicing long established commercial and residential clients across the Home Counties.

Key points:

The ideal candidate will already hold a similar supervisory position or be able to demonstrate a readiness and aptitude to move into a supervisory role and be comfortable driving company vehicles.

The successful applicant will be knowledgeable, experienced in horticulture, proactive, customer-focused, reliable and committed to ensuring their team continues to deliver the high standards their clients expect.  Our client is looking for a Team Leader who can run long term grounds maintenance contracts across a number of sites and who have all or some of the following:

  • Practical experience of all aspects of horticulture and high end prestigious grounds maintenance
  • Proficiency in a broad range of horticultural disciplines

Key Skills:

  • Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Be able to work as part of a team or independently
  • Be able to manage and motivate a team and work under pressure
  • Be able to develop team members, identifying and harnessing potential
  • Be able to manage your own and your team’s workload and work to deadlines
  • Experience of taking ownership of a site and planning and prioritising site work plans
  • Good timekeeping and personal presentation skills
  • Ability to problem solve, take charge of a situation and successfully deal with the unexpected
  • Working at height and correct use of ladders
  • Experience of completing and working to risk assessments
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation relevant to the horticultural industry
  • Ability to implement health and safety requirements to ensure safe working practices

Other Requirements:

  • Full clean UK driving licence (essential)
  • Good solid plant knowledge (essential)
  • A formal horticultural qualification to minimum of Level 3 Certificate/Diploma (essential)
  • 5-10 years’ experience in Horticulture (essential)
  • Hold a PA1 & PA6 licence (desirable)
  • Trailer licence (desirable)
  • First Aid at Work certificate (desirable)
  • Experience of conducting appraisals (desirable)

Due to the location of the yard, all applicants must hold a full driving licence and be able to drive to the yard each day.
