Experienced Landscaper specialising in soft Landscaping and Tree planting
Chew Valley trees are looking for an experienced landscaper, specializing in soft landscaping and tree planting. We are looking for a hardworking, self-motivated person who can fulfill a wide range of tasks.
To be able to undertake all of the tasks expected of you, it is of prime importance that you are physically fit. We work outside all the year round and in all weathers. We undertake a whole range of landscaping and nursery activities. We operate in a fully flexible way, it is entirely possible in a working week to be working on landscaping projects and in the nursery.
We undertake a whole range of landscaping work, but primarily we plant trees, shrubs and hedging, ranging in size from small whips to large, semi-mature specimens.
Other tasks would include garden refurbishment and maintenance, involving the removal of the existing garden features/vegetation and the replanting of trees, shrubs and perennials. Occasionally we install garden/estate fencing, retaining walls, patios and grass seeding/turfing.
It is essential that you have experience in the use of garden machinery such as mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters and rotovators. Certificates in chainsaw use and PA1/PA6 would be an advantage.
You will need a clean driving license and have experience supervising others in implementing tasks in an efficient and safe way. You will be leading a small team of 2-3 people, working primarily in private/domestic gardens. Occasionally you will also work with small construction companies, public utilities and conservation organisations. An ability to deal confidently with both the general public and professional individuals within the landscape industry is required.
You will also work on the nursery when required where tasks include potting, pruning, irrigation and weeding. Good plant identification skills and a knowledge of trees and shrubs is an important attribute.
The nursery grows about 300 varieties of trees in a range of sizes from 7L to 230L pots. In the winter we supply bare root trees and hedging.
Work involves potting, caning, tying in the winter and spring. Irrigation and weed control in the summer and autumn. Many customers come to the nursery to select and collect. Many new customers find us through our online shop www.chewvalleytrees.co.uk to supply them we also dispatch over most of southern England. Good plant identification skills and knowledge of trees and shrubs is an important attribute.
Hours of Work
We work from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. With 28 days paid holiday (including Bank Holidays)
