Bolesworth Estate are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable individual for the post of Gardener to lead a small team responsible for the gardens at Bolesworth Castle, Tattenhall, Chester CH3 9HQ.

The Gardener will be responsible for delivering an annual programme of planting, grass cutting and general garden maintenance including woodland areas.

The garden and Rock Walk above the Castle are open to groups under the NGS scheme in April and May by appointment [see Yellow Book].

As well as being a private house, Bolesworth hosts a number of high profile outdoor events including The Bolesworth International [5 day equestrian event] and CarFest North [in aid of BBC Children in Need].  The maintenance of the gardens is therefore essential in delivering a beautiful setting as a backdrop to these events.

The successful candidate will be based at Bolesworth.  Normal working hours are 08h00 to 17h00 Monday to Friday.  There is a requirement to work flexibly and in particular during the summer growing season.

The candidate will require the following:

  • Certificates of competence for garden machinery inc. tractors
  • Spraying Licence
  • Chainsaw certificate will be seen as an advantage
  • A full clean driving licence

The post includes a competitive remuneration package including accommodation [3 bedroom cottage] at a reduced rent.
