About us

The London Borough of Havering manages 100 parks and open spaces which are an important asset to residents, visitors and sections of the business community within the borough. The Parks and Open Spaces department work in partnership with a number of organisations to deliver a wide range of services in diverse urban and country parks. Several sites have achieved the prestigious Green Flag and London in Bloom awards and the Council is committed to continuing the improvement of standards throughout the borough.

About the Job

To lead on the delivery of the Langtons Gardens Activity Plan, managing activities for learning, training, volunteer involvement and engaging with the community to celebrate the gardens.

This is a five-year post which is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund

About You



The post holder should have a clear understanding of a full range of issues related to community development and event management.


The post holder should have proven experience related to the engagement of diverse community groups and associated learning activities.


The post holder should have proven experience related to the management and development of volunteers and working with voluntary organisations.


The post holder should have a clear understanding of issues related to heritage assets.


The post holder should have proven experience of the management of activities and events related to urban parks or similar landscapes.





A recognised qualification in community development or environmental education would be desirable.

Additional Information

If this post is exempt from the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 the successful applicant will be expected to undertake a satisfactory disclosure report from the Criminal Records Bureau.

Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the Council.
