Due to our present Grower/Manager retiring Kings Hill Nursery is looking for someone to fill this post commencing in March 2018.
Kings Hill Nursery was set up 26 years ago to provide support to people with learning difficulties.
Working alongside able-bodied people we provide work-based training opportunities within a real commercial environment.
Working with people with learning difficulties is central to the core of the business.
Operating on a 5 acre site we are a small but busy Nursery open 7 days a week to both retail & trade customers selling mainly Shrubs, Perennials, Vegetable & bedding plants, we also sell Christmas trees & make handmade, table arrangements, wreaths etc.
The Nursery has a 1 acre glasshouse, 2 multi-span tunnels & 4 polytunnels.
Managing a small team of staff & volunteers.
Work to agreed set budgets.
Preparing & reviewing growing plans each year to ensure quantity & variety of products to sell.
Produce high quality horticultural products for the trade & retail market.
Maintaining glasshouse/poly-tunnel & outside environments.
Ensure that working timesheets are recorded for all staff & adults with learning difficulties.
Be responsible for plant hygiene. & health & safety regulations
Ensure that the training & progress of adults with learning difficulties is recorded.
Ability to give presentations to groups as required.
Flexible working will be necessary which will include some weekend work.
Good team player.
Experience of working with people with learning difficulties.
Experience of taking plant cuttings & growing from seed.
Developing new projects within the Nursery.
Ability to use basic IT equipment.
The successful applicant will require a DBS Enhanced Disclosure
