A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head Gardener to take ownership of a stunning private garden in Monmouthshire, Wales.  Designed, owned, and still lived in by one of the country’s most celebrated garden designers, this exceptional position will deliver reward and ensure genuine pride of place for the successful new applicant.

The Grade II listed late medieval property is situated in a private valley in the Welsh countryside.  The two acre garden itself comprises of wild flower meadows, topiary, roses, perennial borders, fruit and vegetables as well as riverside and woodland gardens.  Rare and unusual species, cultivated plants and meticulous overall maintenance play a significant role in the overall feel of the garden.

Surrounding woodlands, meadows and other significant areas of the garden are undergoing development and enrichment at present.  As such, the successful candidate will play a key role in the enhancement of this impressive garden as well as ensuring the highest quality maintenance of existing areas. 

Applicants must have previous Head Gardener experience, extensive plant knowledge and excellent time management skills.  You must be able to communicate effectively, particularly as you will be expected to assist with in-house training of other gardeners, each of whom work in gardens that have also been created by this distinguished designer.  Applicants must have a genuine passion for Head Gardening at a high level, excellent attention to detail and a positive attitude towards their work and colleagues.
