Trafford Council

Trafford is a thriving, prosperous and culturally vibrant borough and is a major driver of economic growth. It forms part of the Manchester Regional Centre and is home to Manchester United, Coronation Street, the intu Trafford Centre, excellent schools and Greater Manchester’s most affluent suburbs.

Trafford is a key player in the Greater Manchester devolution agenda and the Northern Powerhouse. The Planning and Development Service has recently been restructured with the creation of two new Area Teams (East and West) and Major Developments Team.

The Council’s offices are located less than 10 minutes from Manchester City Centre, close to Old Trafford Metrolink Station. The popular residential areas of Altrincham, Sale, Chorlton and Didsbury are within 15 minutes travel time.

You will work in a busy and friendly development management team and liaise closely with other Council services and private and public sector partners to deliver an excellent service.

You will have:

•Degree or Diploma in Arboriculture.

• Two years’ experience of arboricultural work in a local authority or in a private sector consultancy where contact with a local planning authority has been a significant component of the work.

• Experience of handling applications and notifications for trees subject to Tree Preservation Orders and in conservation areas.

• An extensive knowledge of all aspects of arboriculture.

• An ability to understand, interpret and apply the relevant legislative framework.
