Maintenance Operative

Our client is looking for a Maintenance Operative to deliver high quality grounds maintenance services to a diverse range of commercial projects across the South and London

 

Responsibilities

  • Attend sites as outlined in the schedule provided by your Line Manager
  • Carry out a range of grounds maintenance duties as required including:
  • Mowing, strimming and edging up of grass areas
  • Lawn treatment
  • Hedge pruning
  • Hand weeding
  • Chemical weed control
  • Pest & disease identification and control
  • Tree and shrub planting
  • Watering
  • Communicate positively with clients, co-workers and members of the general public as required
  • Ensure all work is carried out efficiently and to the highest possible standard
  • Follow the weekly schedule provided by your Line Manager
  • Advise your line manager of any tasks not completed and the reasons why
  • Observe health and safety at all times; adhering to risk assessments and method statements and to report any concerns to your line manager immediately
  • Ensure all equipment is fit for purpose before each use and immediately report any concerns to your line manager and cease use if necessary
  • Ensure equipment is well maintained and looked after to ensure optimum performance
  • Carry out all required administration in line with company procedure
  • Adhere to the Companys code of conduct at all times

 

Person Specification

  • 3+ years experience of commercial grounds maintenance
  • Sound knowledge of good horticultural practice
  • NPTC PA1 / 6 spraying licence
  • Full driving licence
  • Experience of using and maintaining mechanical machinery
  • Ability to understand requirements on a project by project basis from large commercial sites to high specification planting schemes
  • High attention to detail with a good level of tree and plant knowledge
  • Positive team player able to lead by example and support junior members of the team
  • Understanding of health, safety and environment requirements
  • Basic IT skills (Microsoft packages)
  • Good customer relations skills
  • NVQ 3 or equivalent in horticulture (Desirable)
  • Certificate in First Aid (Desirable)
  • ROLO certificate (Desirable)
  • CSCS Registration (operative or above) (Desirable)
  • IPAH(Desirable)
