An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Gardener to assist the Head Gardener on a beautiful and prestigious estate in Oxfordshire.  Accommodation is provided with the role in addition to a generous salary for the right candidate.

The historic property boasts 57 acres of surrounding parkland with two large lakes, a lake garden, sunken garden, woodland and a woodland garden.  An arboretum is also located within the site, as is a two acre walled garden and extensive herbaceous borders.  The gardens are currently being redesigned by Tom Stuart-Smith and managed by a team of eight gardeners under the existing Head Gardener.  Various external contractors are on site at different times, each of which may require initial guidance from the Head Gardener, or forthcoming Assistant Head Gardener.

The gardens are maintained to the highest standard and as such, applicants for the Assistant Head Gardener role should be able to demonstrate impeccable attention to detail and a genuine passion for horticulture.

This is a hands-on role, so you must be physically fit and able to lead by example.  You will be required to lead the team in the absence of the Head Gardener so should be diplomatic as well as proactive.  You must be able to prioritise your workload as well as that of the team when necessary.

In return for your commitment and dedication, a generous salary is offered as well as a pension scheme, bonuses and accommodation.  This is a fantastic opportunity for a hard-working and enthusiastic Assistant Head Gardener to be part of a close-knit team on a very prestigious estate in Oxfordshire.
