We are looking for an experienced Growing Manager to join an exciting, forward thinking and growing soft fruit company. They grow quality fruit such as strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. With the full support of the Head of Soft Fruit Growing, you would manage and monitor the crop cycle from plant delivery to harvest. This is a huge opportunity for any experienced Growing Manager that is looking to progress their career.

The Job

You will ensure that all purchased plants meet the required specifications and report any problems to the relevant people immediately.
You will ensure that tunnels and troughs are prepared in accordance with operational procedures.
You will plan and deliver against the annual husbandry tasks and labour requirements including; implement irrigation, fertigation, and plant protection products.
You will provide clear yield information and develop an annual crop calendar, husbandry manpower plan and carry out monthly stock takes of chemical and fertilizers.
You will ensure that crop and environmental systems are accurately controlled and monitored at all times.
You will work closely with the Technical Department and make sure that if there are any problems they will be sorted out quickly and effectively.

The Candidate

We would like someone who already has some experience as a Growing Manager in a similar role.
You'll also need to be a confident and bold individual with the ability to make lots of important, balanced decisions quickly.
You will need to be a strong communicator both within and outside of the Growing team and able to develop productive working relationships with colleagues in other parts of the business.
You'll be organised and efficient to make sure that all records are kept up to date and traceability of plants and operations is achieved.
Ideally, you will have FACTS/BASIS and PA1, 2, 6a and 6b qualifications.
Experience of working with PRIVA is also preferable but, above all, we are looking for individuals with experience of growing soft fruit and a passion for horticulture.
