Croxton Park Estate, Cambridgeshire
We currently have a vacancy for an enthusiastic and hard working individual. Capable of working within a small team and able to use initiative, applicants should be motivated and have a genuine passion for organic growing.
Croxton Park is a private estate dating back to the Doomsday Book. It is located 4 miles east of St Neots, Cambridgeshire and comprises of 500ac mixed organic farm with beef cattle and sheep, 150ac of mixed species woodland used to supply a biomass district heating system, 12ac of formal gardens and a number of rental properties.
We are looking for someone to maintain a productive 1 acre fenced vegetable garden and assist with the maintenance of the ornamental gardens at other times. The vegetable garden contains raised beds, fruit cages, fruit trees and two greenhouses.
Raise high quality fruit and vegetables using organic methods to supply the owners of the estate and local restaurants
Work with the Estate Manager to develop new customer relationships
Assist the Head Gardener in maintaining formal ornamental gardens including tasks such as tree pruning etc.
In quieter months undertake general estate work such as fencing maintenance and repairs, woodland and hedgerow management, road maintenance and repairs.
Qualifications / experience:
Applicants should hold a formal qualification
A number of years experience growing vegetables preferably using organic methods. Experience using and maintaining horticultural machinery
Tractor & chainsaw licence desirable
Remuneration would be c. £18,500 per annum with 25 days holiday entitlement plus bank holidays. Single person accommodation is available and more details will be available upon application.
