Production Manager - H141
Our client is a leading nursery producing in excess of 5 million ornamental plants per annum to the retail sector. The nursery covers 2 sites and incorporates glass, polythene and irrigated standing ground growing shrubs and perennials and ornamentals, marketing through a well-known group supplying independent garden centres, chains and multiples throughout the UK. They are currently looking to recruit a Production Manager to take responsibility for the propagation and stock management requirements for both sites.
Responsibilities of the successful candidate will include managing propagation, young plants and mother stock across both businesses, directing the teams, providing technical expertise and continually improving work systems
We seek an enthusiastic candidate who can work on their own and as part of a wider management team. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of young plant production, growing principles and the ability to apply them to different crops in a commercial environment. You will have strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate others to effectively achieve goals. You will be able to manage, train and develop staff.
A minimum level 3 Horticultural qualification and relevant industry experience is required, as well as a good level of computer literacy. Other qualifications that would be an advantage include management training, first aid certificate and PA1.
A full UK driving licence will be required, with access to your own vehicle.
