Our client is a specialist clematis and climber producer which also produces a large range of Fuchsias, evergreens, shrubs and fruit bushes, producing in excess of 5 million units, over 15 acres of glasshouses and tunnels, over 4 sites in the Boston and Spalding area. They supply most of the major supermarkets and multiples. This includes a dedicated propagation unit producing over 3 million units. They are currently seeking a Grower Supervisor and Propagator for the business.

The Grower Supervisor will be responsible for the following:
Supervision cultural of staff
Maintaining correct moisture levels in pots.
Crop trimming and spacing as required.
Mixing/applying feeds and checking nutrient levels, monitoring pH and EC levels.
Maintaining glasshouse environments and recording data.
Weed control in cropped and non-cropped areas.
Monitoring for P&D and reporting to the Technical Manager.
Chemical spraying (PA1 and PA6 required), following spray programmes.
Maintaining chemical and fertiliser inventories.
Applying biological controls
Maintenance checks on all relevant machinery and carrying out any training required.
All other plant husbandry work.

Ability to work independently.
Team player
Attention to detail
Positive 'can do 'attitude'
Carry out instruction and a willingness to learn.
To include some weekend work and overtime in busy times.

Must haves:
PA1 and PA6 spraying qualifications
Horticultural qualification in production horticulture
Technical knowledge of growing principles, including irrigation and pest and disease and crop protection.
Experience working in production horticulture.
Experience of leading a team.

This is a hands-on role which will involve carrying out watering, spraying and all other cultural work duties.
