About the role
Designing, developing and implementing planting/landscaping schemes for the districts award winning green spaces and programming year round grounds maintenance works for cemeteries, sports pitches and open spaces, you will ensure the continuous enhancement and improvement of our green spaces for the benefit of East Devon residents and visitors. You will work in tandem with our existing Parks and Open Spaces Improvement Officer who leads on making the best use of our green spaces.
Passionate about enabling as many people as possible to get out and enjoy our stunning environment, you will share our love of our beautiful parks and open spaces. You should have a good standard of education to NVQ level 3, plus, ideally, a degree (or equivalent qualification) in Horticulture or a land-based subject. The ability to call on a detailed working knowledge of horticulture and experience of delivering parks and greenspace development are essential. You must also be used to working with community groups and stakeholders.
A strong project manager, you’ll be confident managing a number of tasks simultaneously – and delivering high-quality work to tight deadlines. You must have a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle as travel to site throughout the district will be required in the successful delivery of this role.

East Devon District Council has decided to relocate away from its current headquarters in Sidmouth. Some staff will relocate to Exmouth during the latter part of 2017 and others to Honiton. The timescale for the Honiton relocation has yet to be confirmed.
