Sudeley Castle and Gardens are seeking a gardener to join the team of gardeners at this high profile garden in the Cotswolds.
Sudeley Castle is both a private home and major visitor attraction in the Cotswolds attracting over 70,000 visitors a year. The award winning 14 acre garden is set around the historic Sudeley Castle and is maintained to a very high standard. The garden consists of a series of enclosed and themed areas, two of which are private, and include a Rose garden, a knot garden, a White garden, herb gardens and extensive topiary.
The successful candidate will be a trained professional gardener, and will work alongside the existing team of gardeners and volunteers to assist the head gardener in the maintenance and development of the gardens. The work will include the maintenance of formal hedges, roses, herbaceous plants and lawns. Contact with visitors to the castle and gardens is an important part of the role. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of garden plants and cultivation techniques and will ideally be qualified to at least BTEC level 3 diploma standard in amenity/ornamental horticulture or similar, and hold certification for the application of pesticides using hand held equipment. Above all, the successful candidate will be interested in heritage gardens and plants, and will have a real desire to be involved in the maintenance and development of the garden at Sudeley.
Ideally, the successful applicant will possess a full, clean driving licence and have access to a motor vehicle as public transport to Sudeley Castle is limited.
