This is a really exciting opportunity to bring expertise, passion and planting knowledge to an established historic garden. The grade 1 listed property, is surrounded by formal and walled gardens, vegetable garden, specimen trees, lawns, parkland and woodland:
Duties to include:
Maintaining the gardens to a very high exacting standard and working closely with the Estate Manger, Junior Gardener and Owner.
Strategically plan tasks for the week and gardening year.
Rose pruning and training, planting, hedge trimming, mulching, weed control etc.
Care of Glasshouse
Monitoring of woodland area, vegetative seed and plant propagation and cutting garden
Ongoing development and upkeep of border work.
Management of garden equipment
Flowers, vegetable and garden produce for the house.
Animal welfare, hens, sheep and bees.
Training for Junior Gardener/supervision of volunteers
Suggest and advise best horticultural practices and new systems to improve the garden

Applicants should have horticultural qualifications and ideally previous experience working in a historic garden. You will need excellent plant knowledge, be pro-active with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Spraying, chainsaw certificate and clean driving license required. Position can be either live-in or live-out (Two bedroomed cottage available on site)
