Our client are a garden centre with a unique atmosphere and environment offering wide range of plants, expert advice and a guarantee on all hardy plants.

The nursery is a wholesale section of the company offering pot liners, suitable for growing on, mail order and direct retail sales. They have a range of shrubs and perennials and are able to provide a unique range of plants.

The SUCCESSFUL candidate will be responsible for: • To manage the business on a day to day basis • To implement, manage and monitor production plans • To oversee customer orders from receipt of order to delivery • To manage all purchasing for the nursery and develop relationships with key suppliers • To proactively seek and recommend opportunities to profitably advance business growth • To contribute to the business plan and work to agreed timescales • To work within agreed budgets and achieve targets • To recruit, manage and develop staff to meet the current and future needs of the business

The IDEAL person will possess: • Commercial management experience is essential • Practical hands on experience of production, planning & scheduling is essential • Practical working knowledge of Hardy nursery stock production • Forward thinking with a track record of business development • Effective communication and interpersonal skills • Record of delivering excellent customer service in a wholesale environment • An interest in developing and marketing new plants • Negotiating skills • A knowledge of computer based management systems such as stock control, and production planning • National Certificate/National Diploma in Horticulture - desirable • Basic qualification in pesticide application (PA6) - desirable
